Hosted by Jon Stewart? The hell with him! I have to say I was not impressed or pleased at all, but he did entertain somewhat. The winners were somewhat predicatable, the speeches were too long or too short, the commercials were dumb, and there were points where I was sort of bored because nothing seems to change. It doesn't hurtto jazz it up a little.
I loved Ellen last year. Jon was overall, only okay. It was nice to see Miley Cyrus, Tom Hanks, Forrest Whittacker, Patrick Dempsey, Katherine Heigl, and Nicole Kidman. At least Tom Cruise wasn't there. The whole bee animation was stupid. 80th Oscars and we're running out of steam. Maybe this is all due to the writer's strike, so for that, I try not to be too harsh, but it is what it is.
I'd give a hand to showing the previous Best Picture Winners, including Brokeback Mountain and Forrest Gump. I wish someone would have given a speech about Heath Ledger. No Hugh Jackman was a disappointment, but he's busy filming, so I won't complain anymore. I'll give a hand to Enchanted not winning and Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova for winning Best Original Song for Falling Slowly. Best song in the world. And a last hand to that 11 year old girl that sang too.
Bottom Line: The Oscars this year were not fantastic as I wished, but at least they got all the awards out. Preformances for the singing were my favorite with the showings of all the Best Pictures winners. Maybe next year will be better. Didn't care much for the Oscars this year.
